Arrest made in deadly Cape pool hall crash

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The man who drove his truck through a Cape Coral pool hall nearly two months ago, killing one, has been arrested.

Cape Coral police held a news conference late Friday night announcing that Lee County Sheriff’s deputies arrested William Gulliver, 75, at his home in St. James City on Pine Island at 6:45pm.

Police say Gulliver had a blood alcohol level five times the legal limit when he drove his truck through the front window of Diamond Billiards of Pine Island Road July 20.

His truck hit three people, injuring two woman and killing the pool hall’s longtime chef Ron Gravel.

Gulliver faces one count of felony DUI manslaughter, one count of felony DUI with serious bodily injury, three counts of misdemeanor DUI causing damage to persons or property, and one count of misdemeanor battery. Police say the battery charge is for groping a woman at the bar before the crash.

Gulliver is currently in the Lee County Jail being held on no bond.
