OCALA, Fla. (AP) – A former federal corrections officer faces up to 15 years in prison for accepting a bribe as a public official.

Robert Brown pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court in Ocala.

Prosecutors say the 32-year-old Clermont man smuggled contraband in to inmates at the Coleman Federal Correctional Complex starting last January.

Prosecutors say Brown accepted $2,600 in payments for delivering the contraband.

He also told investigators he had negotiated being paid $7,100 in cash for smuggling in cell phones, prescription pills and tobacco for the inmates.
