Labor Day Travel

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Labor day weekend is here and if you’re heading out of town one thing you’ll notice are all the travelers. But there is a big difference between this year and last year, and that’s the gas prices!

This years gas prices are much lower than last year. On this day in 2014, the average price for a regular gallon of gas in the Fort Myers area was $3.36 Today’s average is $2.23 and we’re actually lower than national average too. According to AAA the average across the country is $2.42.

Of course with the increased volume on the roads, safety is very important, especially if your weekend includes drinking alcohol.

In Florida alone. 1.6 million people are expected to hit the road for this holiday weekend.
