YORK, Pa.- We’ve all heard that cats have nine lives, and it seems a feline named Opie is no exception.

The feisty cat is being hailed as a hero after taking a bullet for his owner.

Early Thursday morning, a stray bullet went through a window in Angelica Sipe’s home.

The bullet went into the couch, through Opie, and then ricocheted around the room, finally coming to rest in a loveseat pillow just inches from Sipe’s 3-year-old son.

Sipe’s said that, when she took Opie to the vet, she had the option to have him put to sleep, but just couldn’t do it.

“I told them I didn’t, I wanted to keep him. He was my son’s little hero. He saved my son’s life so I have to keep him around,” said Sipe.

Opie had a follow-up appointment on Monday. He has some muscle damage, but he’s expected to be okay.
