Exclusive details in Sievers murder

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla.- WINK News is confirming several new details in the death of Bonita Springs Dr. Teresa Sievers.

One of the suspects, Wayne Wright, faces an extradition hearing on September 30.  A judge is expected to sign off on his return to Lee County.

Two of the detectives who went to Missouri to arrest Wright and Jimmy Rodgers are now speaking out.

“This was a woman who did not deserve what happened to her. This wasn’t a situation where she put herself in the wrong position at the wrong time, or made the wrong enemy with the wrong person,” said Detective Michael Downs.

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott confirms there is no evidence of any criminal activity on behalf of Sievers that would have contributed to her death.

Detective Downs and Sgt. David Lebid went to Missouri twice during the investigation. Their first trip scheduled for three days, turned into 13 days.

“What motivates you are the victims in this case. The obvious victim who passed away, but more their family, their children. You want to be able to look at them when they’re older and say ‘we did everything we could, we wanted to find the answers, and we put the time in.’ Then we put more time in,” said Lebid.

Rodgerst will be extradited back to Lee County after he serves several months in federal prison for a probation violation.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office says there is still a long way to go in the investigation.

“When the details come out, and they will, you will be amazed to see where we went, who we talked to. The different support we got from all these different agencies,” said Downs.
