FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – Two people were injured when their small aircraft crashed in the Florida Everglades while attempting to make an emergency landing. A Broward Sheriff’s Office spokesman identified the pilot as 52-year-old Kenneth McKenzie, the former chief operating officer of Spirit Airlines. He was listed in stable condition at a local hospital. Passenger Sonia McKenzie, 50, was listed in good condition. The four-seat Lancair LNC 4 aircraft took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport headed for Lynchburg, Virginia, when the pilot reported low oil pressure. Federal Aviation Administration officials say the crash happened when McKenzie tried to land on a remote road in the Everglades near the Broward-Palm Beach county line.
