The Florida High School Athletic Association suspended ten players for their involvement in a fight during the August 20th preseason football game between South Fort Myers and North Fort Myers. Six North Fort Myers players were suspended for six weeks while another Red Knight player received a one week suspension. Two South Fort Myers players received six game suspensions and an additional Wolfpack player was given a one week suspension.

Lee County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nancy Graham said in a press release. “We respect the decision of the FHSAA. This was an unfortunate incident that fails to reflect the positive participation of hundreds of other student athletes in our schools. ”

The Lee County school district would not release names of the players suspended. After the third quarter, sideline scuffle, three players were ejected from the game: North Fort Myers junior Zaquandre White and senior Bryan Jobson and South Fort Myers senior Jacquez Thornton.

The six weeks suspensions will end on Thursday, October 1, meaning those players will miss five games. The players are allowed to practice during their suspension.
