FPL program can save you thousands if lightning hits your home

NAPLES, Fla.- A local program can save you thousands of dollars if a lightning strike hits your house.

It’s through FPL energy services; the program is named SurgeShield. It costs between $10 to $14 depending on which program you choose. If you just want to protect your appliances, it will cost $10.95 a month. If you want to protect your appliances and other electronics, it will cost $14 a month.

Dennis Goettsch uses the program, he signed up after purchasing new appliances. He says FPL came out and installed the surge protector right by his meter; it took about 5 minutes. Goettsch says he learned about the program from a tech company he used. “It’s going to pay for itself in one incidence,” says Paul Harper of Techs Connect. “What is better than having a piece of mind when something happens?”

One insurance agency is using it, AR Insurance Agency. “We do use it, there is a lot of lighting,” says AR Insurance Agency owner Carlo LLorca.

The charge gets added to your monthly FPL bill.
