Crash shuts down Daniels Parkway for hours

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A section of Daniels Parkway was shutdown for eight hours Sunday morning due to a crash.

Florida Highway Patrol said a car crashed into a telephone pole on Daniels Parkway, causing power lines to fall over the roadway. State troopers had Daniels Parkway between Treeline Avenue and Chamberlain Parkway closed until about 11 a.m. so crews could remove the live power lines.

Homes in that area lost power for a short time, but Florida Power and Light was able to quickly fix the issue.

At the time this story was published, state troopers had not released how the driver of the car was doing.
