Punta Gorda man arrested in brutal attack

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. – Police arrested a Punta Gorda man for brutally beating another man Friday afternoon.

Police said the victim was walking to work on East Charlotte Avenue around 12:30 p.m when he noticed someone was following him. The victim said 34-year-old Preston Sesler hit him in the face, knocking him to the ground then other people started to beat him. The victim said when he was able to stand up, Sesler pulled a gun out and pointed it at the man. The victim said he was able to run from Sesler and go to the hospital.

When officers arrived to the area of the reported attack, they found Sesler and arrested him for trespassing because he was in a neighbor’s yard. Officers obtained a search warrant for Sesler’s home and found a gun and various narcotics packaged to sell including powder cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamines.

Sesler was arrested faces several charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of controlled substance with intent to sell.
