NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. – Lee County sheriff’s deputies responded to an incident at a Walmart Saturday afternoon.

It happened at the store on Pine Island Road around 4:30 p.m. At the time this story was published, deputies had not released any information, but witnesses told a WINK News crew someone was stabbed.

“The guy in Walmart told me that the guy was coming out of the Walmart with his packages, and a guy ran up and stabbed him in the parking lot where we park,” said one woman who asked to remain anonymous.

Video taken by a WINK News crew showed blood near storage sheds in the parking lot, where police had put up crime tape. Deputies also used  and a helicopter to search for something in the area.

“People go catch the bus, they’re walking through there all the time and there’s a lot of places to hide over there, you know,” said Walmart shopper Timothy Smith. “You gotta watch yourself, and it’s best to watch your surroundings.”
