A man’s truck lands in a canal after wild storms in Collier County

NORTH NAPLES, Fla.- Storms ravaged Collier County late into the afternoon sending law enforcement and fire fighters to dozens calls.

Three homes were hit by lightning strikes including one home in Golden Gate and two in North Naples. In North Naples, the home off Driftwood Court was hit so hard by a strike it blew two holes in the roof. “I was on the phone and I just jumped,” says Katherine Russell who lives next door to the home hit. “It was so loud, it was crazy.”

In North Naples on Airport Pulling Road, a driver says the wet road caused his truck to go into a canal. It landed on the driver’s side, half submerged. A good Samaritan says he and two others jumped in the canal and broke the glass pulling the driver, Winston Vasquez, to safety. He walked away unharmed and his truck was pulled from the canal by a tow truck.

There were also multiple car accidents all across the county.
