Brian Hyde held without bond

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Friday morning, a judge ordered Brian Hyde to be held without bond. The state says Hyde is a danger to the community because he killed the only people he lived with. Killed inside the Lehigh Acres home was Hyde’s aunt Dorla Pitts, cousin Starlette and Starlette’s boyfriend Michael Kelly. Hyde’s cousin was six months pregnant. The couple’s one year old daughter was found along in the home when investigators arrived.

Neighbors finally feel safe in their own homes knowing Hyde won’t be getting out of jail anytime soon.

“It was scary because we didn’t know about it was that close to us,” says Jose Castillo, a neighbor, “we feel more calm that they caught him it could have been somebody else but we feel safer now,”

Hyde was found covered in human blood on his fignres, shoes and pants. Detectives call the murder of the Lehigh Acres family extremely violent.

Hyde is from Belize. A TV station there says this isn’t Hyde’s first encounter with the law. Reports show Hyde was a suspect in a double murder in 2013, but was never charged.
