Fire destroys Cape Coral home

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A fire destroyed a Cape Coral home this afternoon on NW 12th Avenue. Three firefighters were sent to the hospital as a precaution for heat exhaustion. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is on scene and investigators are focusing their attention in the garage.

The Haddix family who lives in the home tells WINK News they’re heartbroken to see everything they have reduced to char. The family was in Sarasota when the fire started. Their 19-year-old son is in rehab there after being injured in a motorcycle accident a few months ago.
