MGN Online FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) – A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing his adult son during an argument over an attack on the younger man’s mother years earlier. A Broward County judge sentenced 65-year-old Joseph Troutman on Monday after jurors rejected claims of self-defense and convicted him of second-degree murder. Authorities say Troutman and his son – 40-year-old Tyrone Troutman – were arguing in April 2014 about the older man stabbing the younger man’s mother in 1989. The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports that Ora Troutman had been taking a shower when she was attacked and only survived because her then-teenage son intervened. During last year’s argument, Joseph Troutman allegedly grabbed a large kitchen knife and stabbed his son in the back. Tyrone Troutman ran to a neighbor’s house but collapsed and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
