High School Football Preview: Clewiston

Published: Updated:

The Clewiston High School football team has a lot to look forward to this season. The Tigers return several playmakers from a team that finished 11-1 last season.

Last year, the Tigers went undefeated in the regular season, and finished at 11-1 after a second-round exit in the state playoffs.

Third-year starting quarterback Davis Witt is back to lead an offense that averaged 44 points-per-game. Witt joined by an extremely talented receiving corps, including Senior receiver Tyrin Summers, who has offers from several schools, including Miami, South Carolina, and West Virginia.

Plus, the Tigers get back 6’5″ receiver/Miami commit Reginald Henderson, who has been ineligible for the past two seasons.

“It’s exciting,” said Senior quarterback Davis Witt. “We have tall guys, quick guys out there to get the ball to, great running backs, and the sky’s the limit. We know we can go far, it’s just staying disciplined, staying humble, and playing disciplined football.”

Clewiston will be tested early. They play a very solid Charlotte team in their preseason game on August 21st.
