Sheriff: Woman killed father, 6-year-old daughter

LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) – A judge has denied bond to a central Florida woman charged with killing her 6-year-old daughter and father.

The judge in Polk County said Monday that 25-year-old Cheyanne Jessie will remain in jail.

She is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

Detectives say she killed her daughter, Meredith Jessie, and her father, 50-year-old Mark Weekly. Officials say she hid the bodies in a shed owned by Weekly’s landlord.

Cheyanne Jessie said in an arrest affidavit released Monday that her daughter and father were killed during a struggle over a knife and a gun with her dad at his home last month.

Detectives aren’t buying her story.

Detectives say Jessie had no injuries to suggest she had been in a struggle with her father.
