Man falls into canal, gets pinned under lawn mower

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A man is fighting for his life after falling into a canal and getting pinned under a lawn mower.

Police and fire crews rushed to a home on Northeast 10th Place around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials say the man is approximately 60 years old and owns a lawn care company.

Firefighters say he was cutting grass when he and the mower went tumbling down the steep lawn into the nearby water.

“He was unconscious when he was pulled out, we worked him as a respiratory arrest en route to Cape Coral Hospital,” said Battalion Chief John Hauff, Cape Coral Fire Department.

Firefighters say the wet conditions may have been a factor in the accident.

The homeowners were not home at the time of the accident.

The man’s name hasn’t been released.
