BOCA CHICA, Fla. (AP) – One diver died and a second was rescued off of Boca Chica in the Florida Keys.

Monroe County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Becky Herrin says the men were diving in the lower Keys Monday afternoon when they became separated from their boat. A 17-year-old who stayed on the boat lost sight of the divers and called to report the men missing around 3:15 p.m.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard searched for the men. They found 70-year-old Michael Currie of Key West and returned him to his boat around 5 p.m.

The body of 63-year-old Roger Arrowood of Edenton, North Carolina, was found a short time later floating face down. He was taken to Lower Keys Hospital where he was declared dead.

Foul play isn’t suspected.
