LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A quarter pound of sour patch candy infused with drugs was just taken off the streets.

Deputies intercepted the batch Tuesday morning during a traffic stop on Interstate 75.

Authorities say Brandon Willis, 34, was seen following another vehicle too closely.

After being stopped, Willis notified the deputy that his license was suspended for drug-related charges. The deputy’s K-9 partner then alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics inside the vehicle.

A clear, plastic zip lock bag, that at first glance appeared to have sour patch gummy candy, was found to be much more. Field tests revealed that the “gummies” actually contained Methylone. Approximately one-quarter pound of the drug was seized during the stop.

Willis was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license.

Authorities say Willis is no stranger to law enforcement. He has been booked into the Lee County Jail more than thirty times.
