A flood watch is in effect for Lee and Charlotte counties until 8 p.m. Monday. Heavy rain is falling over the area that will cause flooding. Up to 8 to 10 inches of rain have already fallen over the last couple of days. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause ponding of water in urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other poor drainage areas and low lying spots. Do not attempt to travel across flooded roads; find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away. Make sure you have the WINK News Weather app downloaded on your cellphone so you can track the radar and get alerts sent directly to your phone. It’s free for iPhones and Androids.
