Orange Blossom Library

Reports show the suspect tried to take a child at a Naples library on Tuesday then a mother says a woman matching the same description was caught taking pictures of her daughter in Bonita Springs at a Recreation Center next to the library.

On Wednesday, a 10-year-old girl attending camp was on the Bonita Springs Recreation playground. She was playing hide-and-seek when she opened her eyes and looked up. “The woman was standing directly over her with a cell phone camera taking pictures of her,” says the girl’s mother. She did not want to reveal her identity to the public but says, “it was a disturbing incident for her, she is not even here today, she stayed home. There are a lot of sick people out there.”

When the 10-year-old saw the strange woman snapping pictures of her, she snapped back. “My daughter did confront her and said ‘why are you taking phones of me?’ and that is when she took off in a red mini van.”

The girl’s mother is still disturbed. After what happened to her daughter, she heard about another incident in Collier County that happened Tuesday. She believes the woman taking pictures of her daughter is the same woman who tried to kidnap a toddler at the Orange Blossom Library in Collier County.

According to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was inside the library wearing sunglasses. She approached a young child and tried to take them home. The mother who was nearby, called 911. “She told her in English and Spanish let’s go, we need to go, take my hand.” The mother grabbed her child and the suspicious woman ran off.

In Collier County, the sheriff’s office is going through security footage hoping to find video of the suspect. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted about the Bonita Springs incident. If you know who this woman is you are asked to call deputies.
