LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A federal judge has certified a class action lawsuit against the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. The issue involves when a deputy’s day should start. The lawsuit says federal law mandates they should be getting paid when they first start putting on their protective equipment at home because there’s no place to do it at the sheriff’s office. As it is now, the deputies are not paid until after they suit up and drive to the station.
