I-75 reopens after crash in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A crash caused traffic backups on Interstate 75 Monday afternoon.

Florida Highway Patrol tells WINK News an SUV broke down in the right southbound lane, near mile marker 111.

The driver got out of her vehicle shortly after she had car trouble.

Authorities say one truck driving in the right lane was able to swerve and miss the SUV in time,  but the driver of another semi-truck wasn’t able to avoid the vehicle.

The semi-truck slammed into the SUV traveling at 65 mph.  The SUV was crushed and flew into the woods.

The driver of the SUV had no injuries. The semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital with shoulder pain.
