4-year-old Florida boy found unconscious inside vehicle

PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) – A 4-year-old boy is in serious condition after officials found him unconscious inside a vehicle in central Florida.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/1K3tfIv ) reports the boy’s 13-year-old sister was watching him on Sunday afternoon while their parents were away. She told Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies that she fell asleep and couldn’t find the boy.

Deputies began searching for the child and found him inside a vehicle parked outside the home.

Spokesman Jim Troiano says the child may have been in the vehicle for up to an hour. Deputies began CPR and tried to reduce his body temperature.

The temperature reached the mid-90s in the area on Sunday.

The child was taken to a Jacksonville hospital.

Deputies are calling the incident a “tragic accident.” They continue to investigate.
