FORT MYERS, Fla.- People at a local apartment complex say they’re fed up after vandals went on an expensive crime spree, slashing car tires.

A few weeks ago Andre Rodney had his tires slashed at the Brittany Apartments off Winkler Road. He says he just recently replaced his tires, only to have them slashed again.

“And it happened last night again. I visit my girlfriend here at the Brittanys and my tires slashed.”

After paying for eight new tires in less than a month, he says he wants it to stop.

“Though I’m just a visitor, but I don’t wanna be a target of my vehicle being destroyed every time I’m visiting anybody anywhere, not only the Brittany.”

Another Dodge Charger met the same fate in the same parking lot just a few nights ago.

Rodney says vandalism really lets the air out of his ability to earn a living.

“The main thing that it’s my vehicle that I work with, my business vehicle. So, to wake up and know that my vehicle is flat and I can’t go to work, I have to forfeit my jobs, you know, and it’s not good.”

Rodney says he hopes the apartment complex will step it up and do their part to make their property safer.

“The Brittany could bring some better security in the area, lighting, the security camera,” said Rodney. “Security around the parking lot because this property belongs to people.”

WINK News contacted the apartment complex to ask about security on their property but we have not heard back from them yet.
