LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The couple accused of a violent attack on an elderly man is expected in court Friday for their first appearances.

Myles Cope and Courtney Collins were arrested just before 9 a.m. Thursday morning at the Crestwood Suites, located off US 41 in South Fort Myers.

They are facing several charges including robbery, kidnapping, battery and grand theft.

Detectives say they met a 72-year-old man at Yankee Beach and convinced him to take them back to his house in Herons Glen. That’s when investigators say they pulled out a gun, tied him up, beat him and stole from him.

He is in good condition and recovering from his injuries.

Both Cope and Collins have previous arrest records.
