Deputies raid Buckingham property, find stolen vehicles

LEE COUNTY, Fla.- A raid lead authorities to stolen vehicles and other stolen property.

It happened in a quiet neighborhood on Staley Road in Buckingham.

Craig Busbee says he’s lived for years on 12 acres, owned by his father. He couldn’t believe his eyes Wednesday when deputies showed up to seize vehicles.

“The cops are good guys, you know, they’re doing their job.”

Busbee says he took $100 in cash per vehicle, from a man named “Daniel” to store items on the property. He says he doesn’t know Daniel’s last name or address.

“If it’s gonna be here, I want a title, show me a title, and he showed me a title,” said Busbee. “He drove it up, had the keys and a title for it.”

He says deputies towed away several vehicles. He claims it never occurred to him, that Daniel might be doing something illegal.

“I want to put him in jail,” said Busbee. “I didn’t do nothing wrong, except trust the wrong person.”

Neighbors reacted to the raid.

“That would be a good term, ‘Wild West.’ People do whatever they want to do, when they want to,” said James Williams.
