Suspects try to steal $600 worth of groceries

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies are looking for two people who reportedly took more than $600 worth of groceries from Publix then robbed a liquor store.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Publix at 11851 Palm Beach Boulevard Sunday. Witnesses told deputies that a man and woman had put a large amount of meat in their shopping cart and tried to leave the store. The assistant manager tried to stop the two, and that is when the couple took off running. Deputies said the assistant manager had minor injuries from the fight.

A short time later, deputies were called to Morse Shores Liquor at 4901 Palm Beach Boulevard. Witnesses said a man walked in, grabbed three bottles of liquor and took off in a dark colored SUV.

Surveillance pictures show a man with a blue shirt, plaid shorts and white sunglasses on his head. Deputies said the man may have a teardrop tattoo under his left eye. The woman is a blonde, wearing a white tank top. The suspects may be driving a gray Kia SUV.
