CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla.- One man is recovering at Lee Memorial Hospital after he was thrown from a boat.

It happened just north of Charlotte Harbor around 10 p.m. Saturday.

A U.S. Coast Guard spokesperson tells us he’s not sure what the boat crashed into.

Both the Coast Guard and the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office sent up helicopters.

Crews from Punta Gorda police and Charlotte County fire assisted in the search.

The Coast Guard says a helicopter spotted the man in the mangroves. He had lacerations on his body and nearly drowned.

He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital as a trauma alert.
