Family members mourn teen, uncle killed in Fort Myers shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Friends and family are mourning after a 17-year-old high school student and his uncle were shot and killed.

Police say the two were shot at the Thomas Street Apartments in the Dunbar area, just before 6 p.m. Thursday.

Family members say the victims are 17-year-old Tarvese “Nuk” Johnson and his uncle, 39-year-old Andrew Chisholm.

Johnson was a football player at Cypress Lake High School and had dreams of going to the NFL and taking care of his family.

His sister tells WINK News he leaves behind his 6-month-old baby girl.

Johnson’s cousin, Malcolm Taylor, says he believes his cousin is dead because he was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“I don’t really think that it was by any means intentional to hit him. That’s my personal view,” said Taylor.

Taylor says Johnson lived at the Thomas Street Apartments with his grandmother.

“I think what happened is that my cousin went to go check on his uncle and ended up getting in the crossfire.”

Police are having a difficult time getting people to come forward with information. Not a single tip has come in since the crime took place.

If you have any information, you can remain anonymous by calling Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
