Robber holds 7-Eleven employees at gunpoint

FORT MYERS, Fla.- A man held workers at gunpoint at a 7-Eleven overnight while he stole dozens of money orders.

Police responded to the armed robbery at the 7-Eleven located on the 2200 block of Winkler Avenue around 2 a.m. Thursday.

Three employees were working inside the business when a man entered the store armed with a handgun.

Police say the suspect ordered one employee to open the cash register and ordered the second employee to open another register containing money orders. The suspect demanded money orders from the employee at the second register.

He then ordered all three employees to the back of the store while the money orders were printing.

Authorities say the man left the store with 24 money orders valued at $500.00 each.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 25 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing all black clothing, a tan hat, glasses and a black bandana covering his mouth. The suspect was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

Police are also warning area business to be on the lookout for the stolen money orders taken during the robbery.
