MGN CINCINNATI (AP) – A West Virginia woman accused of deliberately contaminating her 9-year-old son’s IV with fecal matter has pleaded guilty in Cincinnati and has been sentenced to six years in prison. Court officials say Candida Fluty entered the plea to a child-endangering charge Wednesday under an agreement with prosecutors. The 35-year-old resident of Kermit earlier pleaded not guilty to felonious assault and child endangering charges. Fluty’s attorney didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment. Prosecutors say fecal matter put in the child’s IV in January caused his fever to spike. Prosecutors have indicated Fluty might have been seeking attention. On Wednesday, a prosecutor said that Fluty at one point told investigators she inserted the matter hoping to get doctors to change their treatment approach.
