COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- A former deputy is suing the Collier County Sheriff’s Office for wrongful termination.

Jason Slapp and his wife Caroline Keogh were arrested by FDLE agents for prescription fraud.

Slapp’s attorney tells WINK News his client was eventually cleared of any wrong doing. But the sheriff’s office did their own investigation and let Slapp go in May 2014.

“This is certainly not your everyday run of the mill case, where somebody is terminated because of wrongdoing of a third party which is then imputed onto them. Certainly, Mr. Slapp did nothing wrong. He looks forward to his day in court and he looks forward to returning to his career in law enforcement,” said Ben Yormak, Slapp’s attorney.

Slapp was a corporal with the sheriff’s office and had been working there since August 2005.

The sheriff’s office says it’s not commenting on the lawsuit at this time and ultimately, the outcome will be decided in court.
