Woman dies in Bonita Springs motorcycle crash

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies said a 20-year-old Cape Coral woman died after she lost control and crashed her motorcycle early Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 1:30 Saturday morning on Imperial Parkway, just north of East Terry Street.

Deputies said Marissa Younk was driving a left curve on Imperial Parkway at a high rate of speed, when she hit the front brakes and lost control. Deputies said Younk died at the scene.

Saturday afternoon Younk’s friends talked to WINK News.

“My heart dropped. I couldn’t even talk. I didn’t know what to do, especially just finding out about her brother just a couple of months ago. I didn’t expect any of this to happen to her family,” said Autumn Dunn. “I mean she made a mistake and it cost her her life and we can’t have her back for it.”

Dunn said the Younk family has been through a lot. In April, Marissa’s brother, Brendan, was in a car crash and seriously hurt.

Cape Coral police said the driver who hit him ran a stop sign on Southwest 25th Place, then smashed into the right side of Brendan’s car. Friends told WINK News Brendan is paralyzed because of the crash.

Dunn also said both of the Younk parents are unable to work due medical reasons.

“The mom has had cancer on and off, and the dad fell off of a ladder and got a head injury from that,” said Dunn.

Friends have setup a GoFundMe page for Marissa to help pay for her funeral costs.
