BERLIN (AP) – Queen Elizabeth II is heading to Frankfurt for a day trip that includes a visit to the city’s St. Paul’s Church, considered the birthplace of German parliamentary democracy.

The 89-year-old monarch and her husband, Prince Philip, were flying from Berlin Thursday morning. After visiting the church, the seat of the first freely elected German legislative body known as the Frankfurt Assembly, they will lunch with local dignitaries and meet members of the public before returning to Berlin.

Elizabeth was joined at a banquet Wednesday night by Prime Minister David Cameron, who was to outline in Brussels Thursday Britain’s hopes for changes in its relationship with the European Union ahead of a referendum on whether to stay in the bloc.

The queen told banquet guests that “division in Europe is dangerous.”
