FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Fort Myers Fire Department is on the scene of a two-story house fire in the 1600 block of Jefferson Avenue. Neighbors tell our WINK News crew that an elderly woman and her son were home at the time. They were transported to the hospital with very minor injuries. Firefighters say when they arrived, the son was outside the home, worried his elderly mother was still inside. Firefighters searched and found the woman had already made it out and was in the backyard of the home. They say there was fire inside some of the walls, and it appears the fire started on the second floor but the cause is still under investigation.
