Special baseball found at Cape Coral car wash

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- The search is on to find whoever owns a special baseball documenting someone’s first grand slam.

A man found it at a Cape Coral car wash over the weekend, now he’s asking WINK News for help.

“I just want this kid to get his ball back.”

This ball signifies a big accomplishment by a young baseball player.

“When you get your first grand slam, that is it. You will never hit your first grand slam again,” said James Hammond.

The words “1st Grand Slam County Tournaments” are written on the ball, with the date April 18, 2015.

“As a kid, you want to have your memories of when you played the game, without the ball it’s just a memory,” said Hammond.

Hammond found the ball Sunday, sitting on top of a drain at Happy Days Car Wash. Now the search is on to return the ball back to the kid who dropped it.

“For me, memories are part of the game.”

Hammond has shared the picture on social media, but so far has had no luck.

“It’s out there quite a bit, there is a lot of people sharing it. It’s going around, people are trying to help find it, but we haven’t gotten a direct lead yet,” Hammond told WINK News.
