LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Governor Rick Scott kicked off his seven-city tax cut tour in Southwest Florida Monday morning.

Last week, lawmakers passed $400 million worth of tax cuts during a special session.

Gov. Scott arrived at D3 Glass where he spoke about how Florida’s budget will save you money.

The tax cuts are broken down into three main areas. Floridians will see $200 million in cuts when it comes to their cable and cell phone bill and $41 million will go towards college textbooks. Around $67 million will be applied to a 10-day tax-free holiday for back to school supplies that will take place August 7- 16, 2015.

The governor says the state can afford these cuts because of the job creation Florida has seen over the past few years.

“I walked in with almost a $4 billion budget deficit. This is my second year with over a billion dollar surplus. Why? Because we have more jobs, 879,000 jobs in four years and five months. We have people back to work and fewer people unemployed,” said Scott.

The governor will end his seven-city tour in Pensacola Monday evening.
