COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- The community is working together to help a family of eight displaced by storm damage.

The Fowlers have less than 24 hours to find a new place to live.

A GoFundMe account is raising money to help them. So far, about $300 has been raised with a total goal of $20,000.

The Fowler family has been staying in a hotel paid for by the Red Cross since a storm  severely damaged their rental home on Monday.

Wednesday, a tree service removed the large pine tree laying on the roof of the Golden Gate home.

The family tells WINK News they are very grateful for the support they’ve received.

“Overwhelmed… I am so overwhelmed by all the outpouring of help,” said John Fowler. “It’s like every time I turn around, someone new or some place is trying to do something to help me.”

With the tree removed, the family is now trying to get their personal belongings out of the home.
