HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is raising the reward for information on a pit bull found injured over the weekend in Clewiston.

On Saturday, just after noon, the female pitbull was taken to the Gulf Coast Humane Society in Lee County after being found in a wooded area in the Montura neighborhood.

There were black encircling lines around her muzzle and neck, as though a ligature had been placed to keep her muzzle closed and then wrapped around her neck to aid in dragging her behind a vehicle. The dog had extreme injuries to all four paws, lacerations on her rear legs and other related injuries.

As a result of the injuries, veterinarians determined the most humane course of action was to euthanize the dog.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered from the Stop Illegal Dog Fighting GoFundMe account, and up to $1,000 is being offered by Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

Concerned members of the community have also raised at least $1,600 to find who is responsible.
