HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.- A community is banding together to find the person responsible for a horrific case of animal abuse.

A mother pit bull was discovered in Clewiston over the weekend, badly injured. She had marks that indicated she was dragged behind a vehicle.

Veterinarians at the Gulf Coast Humane Society decided it was in the dog’s best interest to humanely euthanize her.

They named her Aaliyah, which means in Hebrew, “go up towards God.”

Concerned community members have raised $1,600 to find the person responsible.
