FMPD searching for suspect in 7-Eleven carjacking

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Police are investigating an early morning carjacking.

Monday around 5:20 a.m., authorities responded to the 7-Eleven located at on the 2500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard..

Officers say a man took the victim’s vehicle by force. The suspect then fled the parking lot in the vehicle westbound on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

The suspect is described as 35 to 45 years old, approximately 5’4″ to 5’6″, 145 to 155 pounds, wearing a faded black shirt and black shorts.

Authorities say the suspect wore a white knit cap and had medium length, thick dreadlocks. The victim further describes the suspect as having patchy facial hair and a possible birth mark or tattoo under his left eye.

The vehicle taken is a white 1998 Ford Econoline Cargo Van bearing Florida tag 625PPM. The van has a Rockstar energy drink bumper sticker and two additional windows behind the front doors.

Detectives were able to retrieve store video surveillance which captured the entire incident. Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the robbery suspect could be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
