Thousands without power in Lehigh Acres

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A severe thunderstorm blew through Southwest Florida Sunday night knocking out power to 3,000 customers.

LCEC spokesperson, Karen Ryan, told WINK News 3,000 homes lost power around 8 p.m. due to the weather. Crews were able to restore power to the majority of the homes within 15 minutes. However, as of 8:40 p.m. some 600 customers were still without power.

Pictures taken by WINK News viewers also showed about dime to quarter-sized hail that reportedly hit the Lehigh Acres area. Other pictures also showed playhouses and trampolines blown over in backyards in the area. WINK News Meteorologist Janine Albert said wind gusts reached up to 50 miles per hour.
