COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- It was a wild ride that ended with drugs tossed out the window and an arrest of a suspect wanted in a recent drive-by shooting. Dozens of deputies responded as three chased a silver car through neighborhoods in Golden Gate. One sheriff’s patrol car was cut off by a truck, forcing it to hit a parked car. No one was injured. The chase ended a few hundred yards up near the intersection of 23rd Avenue Southwest and Sunshine Boulevard in front of the Golden Gate Community Center. Deputies say the suspect, Roberto Martinez, was driving at speeds up to 50 mph before deputies cut him off. During the chase, deputies say the suspect threw a bag of crack out the window. The drugs were recovered. They arrested Martinez at the scene. According to authorities, Martinez was wanted in connection to a drive-by shooting Friday night outside the 8 Ball Lounge.
