LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking for the public’s help identifying several individuals involved in a distraction theft, where two couples worked in unison to steal nearly $800 in perfume. The first couple walked in the Ulta beauty store, located on South Cleveland Avenue just before 8 p.m. on Monday. Authorities say they were originally split up, but then met in the perfume section of the store. Within a minute’s time, a second couple came into the store, and distracted the store’s clerk while the first couple stuffed nine bottles of perfume and cologne into a bag. Both couples then left the store, passing all points of sale and not paying for a single bottle. A review of surveillance video showed the two couples entering and leaving the store. Now, Crime Stoppers is hoping that someone will be able to identify the thieving troupe. Anyone with information on the identities of the scented suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477). All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
