CAPE CORAL, Fla. – The Southwest Florida Military Museum is honoring veterans this Memorial Day as they do every day, hosting a ceremony and dedication at 1 p.m. The museum will dedicate a brand new 30 foot tall flag pole to the city, erected in the front parking lot of the museum. As well as work on expanding their banner program throughout Cape Coral. Currently the museum has 60 banners hanging on light poles throughout the city honoring Cape Coral veterans serving or retired, with the the goal of expanding that number to 125. Cape Coral Mayor, Marni Sawicki will also read a proclamation at Mondays ceremony. Declaring Cape Coral a “Purple Heart City,” only one of seven in the State of Florida.
