Fort Myers man violates probation, arrested in drug bust

FORT MYERS, Fla.- Authorities making an unannounced probation visit arrested a man for multiple drug-related charges.

Saturday, officers conducted an unannounced probation visit on 32-year-old Billy Torres. Torres was sentenced to two years state probation on January 5, for sale and possession of cocaine.

During the check officials found illicit narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view. The Fort Myers Police Department obtained a search warrant based on the information provided by probation officers.

Detectives say they found 110 grams of heroin, with a street value of $14,000, and 497 grams of an unknown white powdery substance. Authorities also found a Mini Draco 7.62x39mm AK-47 style pistol, a Ruger .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun, an Astra .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, drug paraphernalia, and $11,243.

Torres is now facing charges for trafficking heroin, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and violation of probation.
