Retired LCSO Captain Robert Forrest to run for Lee County sheriff

Published: Updated:

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Retired Captain Robert Forrest sat down exclusively with WINK News Saturday to announce his candidacy for Lee County Sheriff.

Forrest, who is currently the operations commander for a local security company, is running with no party affiliation. He will be running in 2016 against current Sheriff Mike Scott.

“I believe in term limits and I think it’s time for a new sheriff in town. It’s time for a new energy new ideas new focus, re-allocate some of the resources that I think are being misspent,” Forrest said to WINK News.

Sheriff Scott was first elected to the position in 2004 and won by a wide margin in 2008 and 2012. WINK News contacted Sheriff Scott Saturday, and he sent the below statement.

“From the moment I announced my intention to run again back in March, the outpouring of confidence and support has been humbling; as evidenced by the investment for my re-election made by so many. My team and I remain proud to serve and focused on the mission.”
