Best Beaches

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Two Collier County beaches were selected as two of the best in the nation by Dr. Beach’s 25th annual list.

In Southwest Florida, Delnor Wiggins Pass State Park was ranked number nine on the list.  Barefoot Beach Preserve, which lies immediately adjacent to Wiggins, was selected as the second best beach in the nation.

Dr. Beach, or Dr. Stephen Leatherman, is a geoscientist, coastal ecologist, and author. He was the nation’s first director of the International Hurricane Center at Florida International University.
